Scotty Ramsey
U.S. ARMY
Growing up, Scott Ramsey was always drawn to art, particularly tattoos and graffiti. He apprenticed to become a tattoo artist and supported himself with odd jobs. However, when the events of 9/11 unfolded, he felt a deep call to serve. He enlisted in the Army and began basic training at Fort Knox—on his birthday, making it an especially memorable way to mark the occasion.
He became an armor crewman—a tanker—and deployed with the 4th Infantry Division for Operation Iraqi Freedom I. That year was intense, marked by combat and long stretches of anticipation, never knowing when things would erupt again. He received multiple awards for his service, though he considers the real honor to have been serving alongside some of the bravest individuals he has ever known. The loss of good men during that time still drives him to this day.
Following his deployment, he spent two years stationed in South Korea—an entirely different kind of adventure. He left the Army with an honorable discharge at the rank of sergeant, feeling a complex mix of relief and loss. It was during this transitional period that he developed a strong interest in watercolor painting, which deepened both his artistic skills and his perspective as a tattoo artist.
He later attended the Art Institute of Dallas, where he expanded his focus into multimedia art. This chapter of his life was transformative, shaping him into a more versatile artist capable of expressing himself across various mediums.
But life for him has never been solely about art or military service. He met and married his beautiful, loving wife, and together they have a talented daughter who fills their lives with joy. They now live on a homestead in rural Texas, where he finds peace surrounded by nature. Beekeeping and homesteading have become his sanctuaries—right alongside his enduring passion for art.
