Marcus Dove was born and raised in the Washington, D.C. area, he joined the United States Marine Corps right out of high school. With Desert Storm intensifying in the Persian Gulf, he felt compelled to be part of it. His plan was to kick ass and take names—but the war ended while he was still in boot camp. The Corps had a greater need for diesel mechanics at the time, so that became his role. It wasn’t what he originally envisioned, but he made the most of it.
He spent several years at Camp Lejeune with MTM Company, 2nd Maintenance Battalion, and later served a year in Japan with 3/12, 3rd Marine Division. He received an Honorable Discharge in 1996 and moved on with no regrets. When asked about his time in the Marines, he’ll say he learned a lot, made lifelong friends, had some good times—and some tough ones. No regrets, but as he puts it, “I’m never doing that again.”
Shortly after leaving the service, he began tattooing in Wilmington, North Carolina. In 2001, he moved to Savannah, Georgia, where he’s remained ever since. After nearly two decades in the industry, he opened Kustom Hustle Tattoo Parlor in 2014.
While he primarily focuses on American traditional tattooing, his years hustling in street shops gave him a strong foundation in a wide range of styles. Bright and bold, clean, fast, and efficient—he believes you're only as good as your last tattoo, so he brings his best work every time.
He’s honored and excited to be a part of this project and looks forward to seeing it all come together.
His mom’s going to be so proud !!!
