Chris Maye Fund
Master Sergeant Christopher Maye, U.S. Air Force. Air traffic controller. Four deployments, twenty plus years of service. He retired on April 16, 2025. He died on June 29, 2026.
Chris was one of the contributing artists in For The Record Vol. II and Vol. III. His Vol. III plate is a snarling goggled dog bursting through a globe, drawn in Air Force tattoo flash, with the Pararescue motto arched around it: That Others May Live.
In his own words
It's a quote from the movie "Apocalypse Now" that lends to the thought: when you're gone, all you think about is home, but when you're home, all you think about is being gone.
You may find yourself floating in the middle, caught between all the different versions of yourself and experiences. Searching for the solid ground or a new place to stand.
Whether you're the creator or the receiver, art is that solid ground for many veterans, service members and their families.
The pieces I painted for this project are a mix of traditionally inspired sticker flash and larger pieces that I hope others can connect with. Many designs have been left with areas that can be personalized or easily adjusted for your own spin.

Master Sergeant Christopher Maye was truly one of the greats both in & out of service being an asset & leader with skill above reproach.
Far beyond his 25 years of service & tattoo art, Chris created art in fashion, furniture, photography to even music & video across many different styles in each medium, he became a friend beyond this project and even though I only knew him for these last several years he will be missed greatly for he made such a positive impact.
